電気自動車の航続距離を長くする……それに貢献するのは無論バッテリーだけではない。パワートレイン全体を改善する必要がある。それを実現するため、ヨーロッパ最大の応用研究機関であるドイツのフラウンホーファー研究機構の研究チームでは、バッテリーとモーターとの間のエネルギーを現在よりも遥かに効率的に変換する、いわゆるパワーインバーターと呼ばれる電子制御ユニットを開発している。
