Tyre models

MF-Tyre

MF-Tyre is the Delft-Tyre standard implementation of the renowned Pacejka Magic Formula that includes the latest developments like representation of the effects of inflation pressure and estimation of combined slip behaviour. With MF-Tyre the engineer can simulate validated steady-state and transient behaviour up to 8Hz, making it the ideal tyre model for handling and control prototyping analyses. Pure cornering and braking as well as combined conditions are accurately described. The robust extrapolation properties of MF-Tyre make the model suitable for the simulation of conditions that go beyond the measurement conditions.   MF-Tyre is the only Magic Formula based tyre model that is available in all major vehicle dynamic simulation packages. These aspects make MF-Tyre the ideal tyre model for handling and control prototyping analyses.

Both MF-Tyre and MF-Swift have been developed and extensively validated using numerous measurements and experiments.

MF-Tyre: Tyre modelling for vehicle handling simulations:

  • Magic Formula slip characteristics
  • Advanced non-linear relaxation effects
  • Single point tyre-road contact
  • Combined slip estimation possibilities
  • Inflation pressure effects
  • OpenCRG road modelling

MF-Swift

MF-Swift is an high frequency (100Hz) extension of MF-Tyre for ride comfort, road load and vibration analysis. MF-Swift adds generic 3D obstacle enveloping and tyre belt dynamics to MF-Tyre’s tyre-road contact force and moment simulation functionality. By this approach an all-inone tyre model is created with which all relevant vehicle dynamic simulations can be performed. The MF-Swift model is the fastest tyre model on the market for 3D uneven road simulations. Due to its understandable structure, parameters can be easily tuned or estimated by the end-user in an early development stage when no physical tyres are available for testing.

Both MF-Tyre and MF-Swift have been developed and extensively validated using numerous measurements and experiments.

Typical application areas for MF-Swift are vehicle comfort analysis, suspension vibration analysis, development of vehicle control systems, such as ABS or ESP, and handling and stability analysis like braking and power-off in a turn on an uneven road.

MF-Swift Includes all MF-Tyre features and the following additional functionality:

  • Magic Formula slip characteristics
  • Unique advanced contact model for uneven roads
  • Rigid ring model for representing tyre dynamics
  • Parking and turnslip
  • Inflation pressure effects
  • OpenCRG road modelling

MF-Tyre/MF-Swift is available in:

  • ADAMS
  • Virtual.lab Motion
  • Simpack
  • MotionSolve
  • DAFUL
  • Samtech
  • Recurdyn
  • CarSim
