Consumer confidence rises in December

Consumer confidence has slightly increased in December, giving a boost to retailers before Christmas. However, overall confidence remains negative, with the index at minus 22. Expectations for the next 12 months improved slightly, and confidence in personal finances has recovered from last year. The major purchase index also rose slightly.
